The full-scale invasion of Ukraine by Russia in February 2022 has fundamentally changed Europe’s security and has had a strong financial impact not just on Europe – but the whole world’s economy. Ukraine will be at the center of Europe and Western allies’ attention and focus for the coming decades, both as long as the war goes on, and afterwards, to support the reconstruction and reintegration of millions of refugees and to guide Ukraine towards future EU and NATO memberships.
A joint assessment at the end of March 2023 by the Government of Ukraine, the World Bank Group, the European Commission, and the United Nations estimated that the cost of reconstruction and recovery in Ukraine has grown to US $411 billion. The cost of reconstruction and recovery is expected to span 10 years and combines the need for both public and private funds. We, as a truly European company, believe that Ukraine will prevail in its fight for freedom and European values, and peace will come to Ukrainians. In addition to international financial assistance to Ukraine, we believe that the best way to sustainably rebuild Ukraine is through trade and investment (aid will not suffice) between foreign and Ukrainian industries and partners.
There is significant interest by international companies to rebuild and invest in Ukraine and we can act as their local, strategic advisor and public affairs and strategic communication partner. There is also interest from Ukrainian companies looking to enter European markets and collaborate with international business. Here too, we can act as a strategic advisor and facilitate market growth. Specifically, Ukrainian industry has a keen interest in EU integration and we can serve as a public affairs advisor to Ukrainian companies in Brussels, Berlin, London and other European capitals.
With three decades of knowledge and expertise in Ukraine, we are uniquely positioned to understand the challenges faced by companies who would like to do business in Ukraine now and in the future. Our senior consultants have public affairs and strategic communications backgrounds in supporting clients in Ukraine, and from working with international partners in the EU, US, and UN.
In April 2023, we opened our office in Kyiv, Ukraine, as one of the first public affairs companies to do so following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022. The new office will act as a local hub and trusted advisor to companies, institutions and organisations looking to engage with, invest in, and develop business in Ukraine. Furthermore, we will act as a bridge-builder, advocating for a more integrated Europe in which Ukraine plays an important role.
