Kjetil M. Istad

Kjetil has worked with public procurement for over 20 years, and comes from the position of Managing Director of The Norwegian Hospital Procurement Trust (Sykehusinnkjøp HF). For the past 15 years, Kjetil has been a leader in the healthcare system at company, regional and national levels.

While he was Director of Procurement and Logistics at South-Eastern Norway Regional Health Authority (Helse Sør-East RHF), he led the strategic restructuring of logistics in the region , to a central supply function and the transition to a common ERP solution for all healthcare institutions. Kjetil had a central role in the investigation work that resulted in the establishment of The Norwegian Hospital Procurement Trust (Sykehusinnkjøp HF), and was employed as their first Managing Director in 2016. He built up the trust into a professional business, which in 2020 was given responsibility for procurement of infection control equipment, medicines, equipment and tests for the health regions and for all municipalities in connection with the corona pandemic.

Kjetil is a recognized expert in public procurement, and especially value-based procurement, and is engaged as a guest lecturer both nationally and internationally. Kjetil is a civil economist from the Norwegian School of Economics (NHH). He completed the specialist health service's top management program in 2014.
