Bente Nyland

Senior Adviser, Norway

Bente is former Director General of the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD), where she worked for more than 30 years in various technical and top managements positions before she retired. As a result, she knows the regulatory framework well and how the petroleum sector has been managed over the years. The interaction between the government, ministries and subordinate agencies is familiar, and also how the interaction between the authorities, the industry and other interests are working. Bente has a university degree in geology from the University in Oslo from 1984 and worked five years with Statoil, now Equinor, before she joined NPD in 1989. She has served as a board member of, among others, the Institute for Energy Technology (IFE), the Norwegian Technical Institute (NGI), the University fund Rogaland and the conference committee of ONS (Offshore Northern Seas).
