His experience in Public Affairs stretches over two decades in Helsinki and Brussels. In 1996, he started his career as an intern in the liberal group of the European Parliament and worked his way up so, ten years later, he left the ALDE Group from the position of head of communications. During those years, he advised MEPs on agricultural and fisheries policy, Arctic matters, relations with Japan, and economic affairs.

He created mechanisms and methods for quantitative political analysis and oversaw the organization of high-profile public events. After having returned to Finland, Kimmo started his own public affairs business. He advised numerous clients with demanding issues in finance, energy, consumer goods, mining and public sectors. He sold his remaining ownership in the company in 2016 and is now actively involved in the Finnish start-up scene. Kimmo is a popular lecturer and moderator.

He has also written numeorus articles about different aspects of public affairs. Kimmo Collander holds three academic degrees. He has an extensive network in all walks of life around Europe. He works in Finnish, English, Swedish and French. Landscape and building restorations are his favorite leisure time hobbies.
