Peter Simpson

Peter Simpson is an expert in the risk management of hazardous chemicals with over 20 years of experience working in the UK and the EU in consultancy and regulatory roles. Prior to joining Rud Pedersen, he worked at the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) specialising in chemicals risk management under the EU REACH Regulation, specifically the REACH authorisation and restriction processes. From 2019 to 2022 he coordinated ECHA’s restriction process, leading the development of REACH restriction proposals and providing technical and strategic support to EU member states, ECHA’s scientific committees for risk assessment (RAC) and socio-economic analysis (SEAC) as well as to the European Commission.

Peter has specific expertise in understanding the social impacts of chemical risk management and has a special interest in identifying optimal regulatory solutions to today’s complex chemical, sustainability and resource management challenges.
