Alan Houmann
Senior Adviser, Brussels
Formerly Managing Director and Head of Government Affairs for Europe, Middle East and Africa at Citi, from 2007-2023, focused on regulatory and legislative change, tax, sanctions policy, and political and geopolitical analysis. Before Citi Alan was a financial services regulator, as an adviser in the International Strategy and Policy Department at the UK's Financial Services Authority (FSA) and deputy at the Committee of European Banking Supervisors (CEBS). He served in the European Commission (EC) and the Economic and Financial Committee (EFC), in the team preparing for the introduction of the euro. Alan started his career at HM Treasury as a member of the Government Economic Service. He is a Council (Board) member at Chatham House (Royal Institute of International Affairs), acting as EDI lead for Council, and member of various committees. He was awarded the Freedom of the City of London in 2022.
