Peter Carpelan was, until 2018, Regional Councillor in Region Stockholm. As such, he was responsible for research, development and education as well as central employer issues. Prior to that, Peter was the Mayor of Ekerö municipality for 16 years. Peter has, in his role as a leading politician for the Moderate Party within both the municipalities and in Region Stockholm, a broad network of contacts within politics and extensive knowledge of future developments in the region. He also has a wide network among politicians in the municipalities and regions in the rest of Sweden, and has a deep understanding of the sector.
Peter Carpelan is a lawyer and, before his political career, worked as a district attorney at, among other things, the Swedish Economic Crime Authority in Stockholm. He has also held a number of different board assignments linked to the municipalities in Stockholm county, such as Vice Chairman of Södertörn’s Fire Defence Association, Member of the Board in Roslagsvatten AB and Member of the Board of the Structural Funds Partnership, set up by the Government to decide on EU contributions to the Swedish regions.
