Until 2018, Åsa was deputy mayor of Växjö and had held elected office for the Social Democrats for more than ten years. She was a member of the Swedish association of local authorities and regions committee for planning and community development, and she was also a part of several internal social democratic working groups. Åsa has a broad network, both internally in the Social Democratic Party, as well as externally from many years in different political roles. For many years, Åsa also held international assignments such as chair of ICLEI Europe, and as a European board member of the Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy. Prior to joining Rud Pedersen, Åsa had her own consulting firm and, most recently, Åsa worked as head of a general psychiatric ward. Åsa holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Social Work from Linnaeus University.
